CT Scan and PFT tests

June 9 2021  CT  Scan and PFT tests today.  Today I had to do a Cat scan. I have done a few of them over the last few years. This time was not hard and the ladies were very accommodating and helpful.  I'm claustrophobic so it can be trying for me but it didn't take long and I got through it just fine. The PFT test is a Pulmonary Function test. it tests how much breathing ability in my lungs I have.  The last one a year ago said I had 26% breatahing ability.  this one so far the tech a very nice older lady said it looked like I had 29% now. I have been doing nebulizer treatments and it seems that has helped. Tho I've not been very good at getting them done in the last month and a half. I will need to get back into routine and get my treatments done.  One reason for the treatments is to keep the lung clear of any infections.  I will wait to find out the results from today's tests.  Hopefully I will hear in the next few days.  I tend to get lazy and I really have to get be
June 8 2021 Lung transplant Because I have a lung disease I am looking at a lung transplant  My dr sent a referral  and I received a letter from the transplant team they said I had to go from being 285  to getting down to 175 to qualify so I am on a weight loss journey.  So far I am down to 251  I've lost 33 pounds so far.  I didn't want to use any particular program so I want to do this my way. I was sent to pulmonary rehab so I went through 3 months of exercising  and learning with a nutritionist.  So I am working on what I learned about eating a low carb diet  and using my treadmill to exercise.  I have to be honest here I have not been walking since I got out of the hosp the end of April.  But I am going to try to get motivated to stick to my diet better and to do more walking.  My husband has been losing also he eats what I eat most of the time. But lately he has developed a fast food diet LOL  So day by day I hope to improve my weight and my body.

The Beginning

In 1998 I was told I had a one third of my left lung closed off. The dr called it a bullous. He didn't term it as a disease so I didn't think much more about it.  So over the years I raised my kids and dealt with my husband and his health problems.   Over time I started having trouble breathing. I kept putting off going to the dr.  I finally allowed my dr to send me to a Pulmonary dr - Dr Velho I did a cat scan and other breathing tests.  She showed me the exrays and my left lung was completely empty other than about possibly 10% at the top. The right lung had one small tiny white dot that was the disease.  I worried and prayed about that white dot taking over the rest of my right lung.  this was about 5 yrs ago. 2015.   So I saw Dr. V in Feb 2020   She asked me if I was interested and willing to try a lung transplant.  She said we would talk about it at the next appt.  But Covid happened and I went into quarantine
